Multisport raid, nature raid or sports raid: what does it really include?
There are many different names for a raid, this series of outdoor sporting events known as adventure races. Organized by associations, companies, schools, or even municipalities, they vary in format but often feature similar challenges. Distances vary, and participants often have the option of choosing between a shorter and a longer version.
The different challenges of a raid
Always done in teams, the most common challenges in nature raids are:
- Running, orienteering or trail running : it takes different forms from the most classic to that of reflection and orientation.
- Mountain biking or run & bike : is generally practiced on the surrounding trails. Run & bike, however, offers teammates the opportunity to support each other during the event by alternating between running and mountain biking.
- Kayaking : it can be practiced on rivers, lakes, or the sea. The competitions vary depending on the available natural spaces.
All these tests can be carried out during the day, at night, or in semi-nocturnal conditions.
