Your stay

In Corrèze, Lot and Dordogne, set off on a journey through nature that will allow you to discover many villages classified among «the most beautiful villages of France»: Beaulieu S/Dordogne, Carennac, Souillac or Laroque-Gageac and Beynac. From your boat you will encounter many castles, such as Mirandol, Treyne and Belcastel. You will probably have the chance to meet many species in their natural habitat such as the kingfisher or the heron.

PROGRAM

DAY 1

Bus leaves at 8:30 am from the Base in Vayrac : Base de loisir – Les Granges 46110 VAYRAC.

From Argentat to Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne

Arrival at Argentat around 10:45, delivery of equipment and departure for the descent. During the descent, passage of the rapids of the Battut.

Arrival at Beaulieu s / Dordogne and its greatful chapel by the river. Passage of the slide before arriving on the campsite “Huttopia” perfectly located in the village of Beaulieu s / Dordogne.

DAY 2

From Beaulieu S/Dordogne to Vayrac

On route you can visit the village of Carennac and its famous cloister. Over night camping at “Les Granges”. You will have the opportunity to use your car and visit Rocamadour, Collonges-la-Rouge…

DAY 3

Distance: 18 km

Duration: 3h30 à 4h00

From Vayrac to Saint-Sozy

Very nice descent down the river between the limestone cliffs of Quercy, passing at the foot of the castle of Mirandol and the belvedere of Copeyre, opportunity to visit Gluges and its church whose restoration of stained glass windows had been financed by Edith Piaf who liked to come and recharge there. Possibility of stopping at Montvalent with the resurgence of the underground river of the abyss of Padirac (10 min walk). You will also have the opportunity to stop in Creysse, typical village.

Overnight at the campsite «Les Borgnes» or in bivouac.

DAY 4

Duration: 3h30 to 4h00

From Saint-Sozy to Souillac

A day placed under the sign of cliffs and Lotois castles. Swimming breaks on a pebble beach in front of the Belcastel castle, passing under the Treyne castle, classified «Relais et Châteaux». If you are careful, you can enter a cave with your canoe-kayak and feel the freshness of the resurgence.

Overnight at the campsite «Les Ondines» in Souillac or in bivouac. 

DAY 5

Duration: 3h30 to 4h00

From Souillac to St Julien de Lampon

Before the start, a short tour in Souillac is required. Visit of the Abbey, the Automate Museum and the Louis Roque Distillery, specialist of the «Vieille Prune». A few groceries at the farmers’ market for your picnic and here we go! Birds, beaches, wild swim and relaxing until St Julien de Lampon.

Overnight at the municipal campsite of Saint-Julien-de-Lampon or at the bivouac.

DAY 6

Difficulty:

Distance: 15 km

Duration: 3h30 to 4h00

From St Julien de Lampon to Vitrac

During the descent, a stopover is needed on an island to offer you the luxury of a wild beach!

Passage in the cingle of Montfort and its castle perched at the top of the cliff.

Overnight at the campsite «Le Perpetuum» or in bivouac.

DAY 7

Difficulty:

Distance: 14 km

Duration: 3h30 to 4h00

From Vitrac to Beynac

You will pass at the foot of the village of Domme. Then, impossible to miss Laroque-Gageac, troglodyte village and country of the gabariers. The river is calm at this point, so just drift and admire this jewel of the Périgord. Just a few kilometres away you will discover the castle of Castelnaud, a fantastic medieval fortress that faces the castle of Beynac and the gardens of Marqueyssac.

Final stop just after Vézac castle.

Bus back at 3.30 pm to Vayrac, arrival around 5.30 pm. Fairly short but very rich descent, with visits, castles, picturesque villages…

Organization:

Arrive the day before your departure at the Base in Vayrac between 16:30 and 18:30. Here you will receive a detailed description of your journey (a waterproof map of the river will be given to you) and completion of the Rental Agreement.

At the end of your trip, we will pick you up by bus at the point of meeting and time indicated on your Rental Agreement.

For your over night stays, we recommend campsites near the Dordogne, you can also alternate with making camp on the river banks or book lodgings, hotels or guest houses.

The booking of the pitches in the campsites will be arranged by us during your trip. You will be required to pay for your camping on arrival at each site. Prices are approximately 12 to 15 euros per night per person depending on the campsites.
Provision of camping equipment is NOT included in the price.
