Canoeing with camping on Dordogne river - Canoe Lot & Correze countriesYou can take a canoe for 2 – 7 days and camp along the way. Below, you will find the Canoeing routes on the Dordogne for one week, a distance of up to 120 kms. It is this route that has earned Safaraid’s fine reputation. The route is also included in the brochures of French, German, Swiss and Slovenia Holiday Companies.

Departures

  • from Argentat (Correze): every day for stays of 2-7 days.
  • from Vayrac (Lot): every day for stays of 2-5 days.

In practice

  • You will be given a plan of the river at the start of your holiday.
  • If you choose to use our transport baggage service, you will be issued with labels to identify your luggage.
  • At Vayrac there is a private carpark at your disposal but there is no surveillance.
  • Camping equipment is not supplied.

  • Reservations can be made by us to the various camping locations. You will be required to pay for your camping on arrival at the site. Prices are approximately from 7 to 12 euros per night per person, depending of the campsites.

Programme

Journey with canoe and kayak in Lot, Correze and Dordogne countriesDay 1Vayrac

* Arrive at the home base of Vayrac no later than 19.00 hours. There will be a briefing of the route and your overnight camping will be at the nearby‘Les Granges’ in Vayrac. (If you prefer you can start your holiday from here, as at Day 2 below, departing Vayrac at 09.00 hours).

Day 2Argentat to Beaulieu 21 kms

* Departing Vayrac at 09.00 hours by coach for Argentat. Parking is provided for your vehicle for the length of your holiday. Arriving at Argentat about 10.45 hours where there will be a briefing of equipment and then depart via some small fun rapids, with landscaped forest alternating with orchards along the route. Overnight camping at ‘Les Iles’.

Day 3Beaulieu to Vayrac 23 kms

* On route you can stop of at the picturesque village of Carennac and its famous cloisters. Overnight camping at ‘Les Granges’. It may be possible to use your vehicle to visit Rocamadour or Collonges-la-Rouge.

Day 4Vayrac to St Sozy 15 kms

* This is a beautiful journey between the limestone cliffs of the Quercy, visit Gluges with homes built into the cliffs and also the pretty village of Creysse. Overnight camping at ‘Les Borgnes’.

Day 5St Sozy to Souillac 17 kms

* Journey under the chateaux of Belcastel and La Treyne. Overnight camping at ‘Municipal de Lanzac’.

Day 6Souillac to Saint Julien de Lampon 14 kms

* Before departure, take the opportunity to visit Souillac. Overnight camping at ‘St Julien de Lampon’. At the entrance to this campsite you can take a bus to the town of Sarlat.

Day 7Saint Julien de Lampon to Vitrac 16 kms

* Journey past the impressive castle of Simon de Montfort. Overnight at the ‘Le Perpetuum’ campsite.

Day 8Vitrac to Beynac 14 kms

* Visit the Troglodyte village of Laroque-Gageac and the castle of Castelnaud. Returning by coach at 15.30 hours for Vayrac arriving at, 17.30 hours.
